School Day at the 26th Annual Vermont International Festival will be Friday, November 30th, 2018. Schools are invited to bring student groups to the Vermont International Festival from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm at the Champlain Valley Exposition (Robert E. Miller Building), Route 15/Pearl Street, Essex Junction, Vermont. Pre-registration is required to participate.
The festival is a celebration of crafts and cultures with an exhibition of international crafts and other gifts from countries around the globe, ethnic cuisine, country exhibits, hands-on demonstrations, music, dance and other participatory events. Performances and participatory workshops in dancing, music-making and crafts are offered all day.
Students will find CRAFTS such as traditional Andean knitwear from Peru, hand-carved stone sculptures from Zimbabwe, hand woven baskets from Ghana and Zimbabwe, pottery from Poland, Tibetan rugs, origami crane ornaments, wooden dolls from Russia, amber from the Baltics and much more. They can sample FOODS from Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Jamaica, Africa, East Asia and elsewhere. They will enjoy PERFORMANCES including African drumming, Franco-American music, Irish dancers, belly dancers, bagpipers, storytelling and more. All will provide students with an opportunity to learn more about other cultures. Crafts, gifts and food will be available for purchase at prices designed to be affordable to students.
